about

A simple, generative structure based on the motion of the planets in our solar system creates a gentle piece of music, realized with just a piano and basic effects. Orbital and rotational speeds were scaled logarithmically (to accommodate their large variance), and each planet sounds a melodic interval for every orbital period, with the rhythm of the interval based on the rotational period. Pitches were assigned for each planet based on mass. The piece opens at an arbitrary point and ends after the melody assigned for Earth is heard 100 times.
